More Than Just a New Year’s Resolution, Organisation Is the Key to an Easy Move
Practically everyone we know has made New Year’s resolutions to “be more organised” during the coming year. What they might not know, though, is that that new skill they’ve honed for the New Year will help them when it’s time to move house. Here are some organisation tips from the expert removalists at Zoom Removals that will help make your next move a great success:
Create a Moving List
Find a cheap notebook. Use a numbering system to number each box you pack. Enter the box’s number in your notebook before you pack it, and then write the number on the box itself. Beside the number in your notebook, list the specific contents of each box as you pack each item.
Have a Designated Packing Spot
Set a place apart for packing. Keep your pens or markers, sturdy tape, labels, notebook, and boxes there.
Make Sure You Have a Lot of Supplies
People who aren’t professional removalists often don’t know how many boxes they’ll need to pack all the contents in a home. Make sure that the boxes you do have are sturdy enough to handle the rigours of the removal process. Have plenty of tape, markers, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or other cushioning, and labels. If you use Zoom Removals for your move, you can get as many boxes as you want from us for free. After the move, we’ll take them back with us. You’ll never have to worry about our boxes being sturdy enough. We purchase only the best for our customers.
Pack Light Objects in Large Boxes
Once you get in your new home and the removalists leave, you may need to carry some boxes to other rooms. Make it easy on yourself by packing large boxes with lighter objects.
Use Colour Coordination to Make Unpacking Go Quickly
In your notebook, list a colour for each room in your new home. Apply the proper coloured labels on each box, close to where you wrote the box number. When you get to your new home, apply coloured labels to each door or doorknob leading to each room.
Finally, Keep All Parts Together and Organised
Use envelopes or plastic zipper bags to hold small parts. Keep them with the appliance or piece of furniture to which they belong. The last thing you want is to hunt through hundreds of boxes to find that missing screw or bolt.
When you organise before your removal, you’ll feel relaxed, in control, and ready to tackle life in your new home. For more tips to make your removal easier or to book a move, contact the team of professional removalists at Zoom Removals today.
